Govt of Pakistan Creates National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency to Deal with Cybercrime

The federal government established the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) to combat cybercrime nationwide.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) will stop acting as a designated investigation agency under the Prevention of Electronic Crime Act, 2016. The NCCIA will exercise jurisdiction under the Act, according to a notification from the information ministry published in the Gazette of Pakistan.
All staff members, cases, inquiries, investigations, assets, liabilities, rights, obligations, privileges, and matters connected to or related to the defunct cybercrime wing of the FIA that existed immediately before these regulations started will be transferred to the NCCIA, per the notification.

According to the notification, the new organization will have a Director General, Additional Directors General, Directors, Additional Directors, Deputy Directors, Assistant Directors, and any other officers the Director General may decide upon.
A grade 21 or 22 official, the Director General shall be nominated by the Federal Government for a two-year tenure. The powers of the NCCIA Director General will be the same as those of an Inspector General of Police.
